CCP Annual Notice 2023-2024

Information/Reminders emailed to students on 2-16-24:
Hello.  Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in College Credit Plus (CCP) for the 2025-2025 school year.  CCP is a dual-enrollment program in which students can take classes through colleges to earn both college and high school credits at the same time.  If you don't plan to participate next year, you can disregard this email.  For those who are interested, see below for the information you'll need to get started.

All students (those new to CCP and those who have already taken CCP) must:
1. Have either attended the information session at CMHS or another local school OR view the online information session
2. Complete the Letter of Intent to Participate in CCP for the 2024-2025 school year.  This must be completed by April 1 or the student will not be eligible for CCP.

3. Determine whether you need further placement testing.  If you passed the WritePlacer last year, but you want to take a math or science course this year, you may need to take the ALEKS.
Students who are new to CCP must also:
1. Apply to the college(s) to which they want to apply (via the college's website; just Google the college's name and "CCP information").
2. Determine whether the student will need to test.  All students in grades 7-10 will need to take placement testing at the college.  Students who will be in grades 11-12 may have to test, depending on the courses you have taken previously and your GPA. If you have two English credits and three math credits (including an A or a B in Algebra II), you likely won't need to test.  You can see your school counselor for more information.
3. Contact the college to set up placement testing.  Some schools have a "virtual" testing option, in which you can take the placement test online with a college proctor watching you test.  Otherwise, you'll go to the college campus for placement testing.  If you are planning to take course work in English, the social science fields (history, psychology, etc.), then you'll need to take the WritePlacer.  You must have a five or higher on the WritePlacer in order to participate in CCP.  If you get a four or below, you will need to retest. If you're planning to take course work in math and science, you'll take the ALEKS.  If you're taking both, you'll need to take both tests.  If you're not sure which test you'll need, see your counselor.
Deadlines for all students:
1. April 1--Letter of Intent must be submitted
2. June 1--all students must have their college application(s) submitted AND have their testing completed in order to participate in CCP at CMHS with our teachers.  Failure to meet that deadline will result in the student being removed from the CCP roster and placed into high school credit only courses.  After that time, students who complete their application/testing can participate in CCP, but it will only be for online courses/courses at the campus.  Please note that colleges are burdened with thousands of applications; do not delay to apply.  Once your application has been submitted, it can take up to a month to be fully processed by the college.  Get your application submitted and testing scheduled ASAP.
If you have any questions that aren't answered in the Slideshow or video linked above, please feel free to reach out to your counselor.  You can also contact the CCP Office of the college(s) to which you're applying.

If you are taking CCP courses online/at a campus this summer or fall, please make sure that you send Ms. Beres your schedule.  I need your complete information, including the following:

1. full course name (example: English Composition I)
2. course number (example: ENG 1101)
3. section number (example: ENG 1101-502 or PSY 1100-5B0)
4. number of credit hours
5. format of the course (online, in-person, remote, etc.)
Please create a new message to send this information (instead of replying to this message).
For summer classes this year, you will be getting your own books from the campus bookstore.  Directions for Sinclair are attached; please note that you cannot order books until 10 days before the term starts.  You will not pay for the books yourself; you should be able to charge them to CMHS.   Fall books will be TBA as we get closer to the start of the fall term.
For any CCP courses at CMHS, you do not need to send me any information.  By putting the courses on your request list that you entered into the computer, you indicated that you wanted us to sign you up for those classes.  As long as you applied and completed testing (if necessary), you don't need to do anything else. When we get closer to fall, we will send the registration lists to Sinclair and they will register you.

Current CCP Students:
