Mental Health Therapist

Hello, my name is Rachel Weiss and I am the Mental Health Therapist for middle school and high school at Clinton-Massie Local Schools. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming space where students can talk through challenges, build healthy coping skills, and receive the support they need to thrive.

Mental health support is available to all students. Reaching out for help is a positive step toward wellness and personal growth.

About Me

I have a masters degree in Social Work and I am a Licensed Social Worker. I am dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of adolescents. As the Mental Health Therapist for Clinton-Massie Middle School and Clinton-Massie High School, I work with students to help them understand their emotions, manage challenges, strengthen relationships, and develop skills that support success in school and in life.

I am committed to providing compassionate, confidential, and accessible support to every student.

What Does a School Mental Health Therapist Do?

A school mental health therapist provides support that helps students manage emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health concerns. Services may include individual and group counseling, mental health assessments, and guidance in developing coping strategies and emotional regulation skills. A school mental health therapist collaborates with teachers, parents, and administrators, when appropriate, to create a coordinated support system for students. Support may also include creating crisis intervention plans, helping students through difficult life transitions, connecting families with community resources, and promoting overall mental wellness and resilience. The goal is to help students feel supported, build confidence, and develop skills they can use at school, at home, and throughout their lives.

What Can Students See Me For?

  • Students may reach out for support with:
  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Depression or persistent sadness
  • Grief and loss
  • Family changes, including divorce, separation, or new siblings
  • Friendship or relationship difficulties
  • Academic stress and pressure
  • Self-esteem and confidence concerns
  • Anger management
  • Trauma or difficult experiences
  • School adjustment challenges
  • Coping with change or transitions
  • General emotional support

Students do not need to wait until a problem feels overwhelming to ask for help. Support is available for concerns both big and small.

Why Today's Schools Need Mental Health Therapists

Many adolescents are experiencing increasing levels of anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health challenges. Academic pressure, social expectations, changing relationships, and the influence of social media can add to the demands students face each day. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have also contributed to ongoing social, emotional, and mental health needs for many students and families.

Providing mental health services in schools allows students to access support in a familiar and convenient setting. Early intervention and prevention can help concerns from becoming more serious, while reducing common barriers such as transportation, scheduling, cost, and stigma. When students can receive help at school, families can be connected with additional community resources when needed.

Mental health is an important part of supporting the whole child—not just academic achievement. Students who feel emotionally supported are better able to focus, attend school, build positive relationships, solve problems, and participate in learning. By creating a culture of wellness and normalizing conversations about mental health, schools can help students understand that asking for support is a sign of strength.
