High School Testing

Upcoming High School Testing

ACT Information for CMHS Juniors

February 8--ACT Workshop with Bob Brausch. This is optional.  Students have until February 5 to sign up and/or pay.  If you haven't already done so, sign up on the emailed link and pay in the counseling office.

Students who are attending the workshop should report to school at the usual time and report to his/her first period class for attendance and wait to be called (probably 5 minutes).  If students are off-campus (CCP or career center), report to the office. All students will be called out of class to report to the annex for the workshop. All students need is something to write with and a calculator.  For lunch, students will report to the cafeteria at 10:45 (whether buying or bringing a lunch). At 11:15, students will go back to the annex, and Mr. Brausch will start again at 11:30. He will finish at 2:35, and students will dismiss to buses/cars as usual at the end of the day.

February 12--ACT testing registration; this is mandatory.  State rules require that this registration must be completed prior to the day of testing. ALL juniors (including off-campus CCP and those at the career centers) are to be at CMHS at 7:30.  Those who are at CMHS will report to first period for attendance and will be called out at 7:40.  Those who are off-campus (career centers and CCP) are to report to the cafeteria at 7:35 for attendance.

The registration will take 60-90 minutes to complete, and students don't need anything but a pencil.  When students have finished the registration, they will head back to class or to their career center/CCP location. If you attend Laurel Oaks and ride the bus, bus transportation will be provided following the registration from CMHS to Laurel.  If students attend WCCC, Scarlet, Live, or Greene, they will be responsible for their own transportation to school after the registration is complete. If a student attends a career center, the school will be notified that he/she at CMHS so that attendance doesn't count against them; they will also be notified if a student is not here when they are supposed to be so that attendance will count against them if they're absent.

February 20--the ACT; this is mandatory for ALL juniors (per state requirements).  Students will report to CMHS by 7:30 and report to their testing location (to be announced--shared with students via email and posted near the office) in the high school.  Students will need a pencil, calculator, and their license/state ID (if they have one).

Once everyone is checked in, testing will begin (between 7:45-8).  The test will be finished by noon. At that time, students can leave for the day (if they have the permission form), or they will go to lunch and then report to study hall for the rest of the day.  If a student would like to have lunch before he/she leaves, they may eat and then leave for the day (again, with the permission form).

The permission form was mailed home in early December.  If a student needs another copy, they are available from the main office or the guidance office. Students cannot leave CMHS unless this permission form is handed in the day of the ACT. If a students are unsure as to whether they have it, we suggest they get another one from one of the offices.

Any questions about ACT-related information should be directed to Mrs. Potts or Ms. Beres.

CMHS's ACT School Code is 361-190.

For information about national test dates and to register, click here. Juniors and seniors who receive free/reduced lunch and/or are economically disadvantaged may qualify for a fee waiver from ACT, and students can receive two fee waivers while in high school.  For more information on fee waivers, click here. Students who believe that they may qualify for a fee waiver should visit his/her school counselor to pick up the waiver.

All CMHS juniors will take the state-sponsored ACT on February 20 at CMHS.  There is no charge for this test, and students will register at CMHS for the test in early February.  More information about registration will come out in January.

On February 8, CMHS juniors will have the opportunity to take the "Attacking the ACT" Workshop with Bob Brausch.  A letter was sent home in December regarding this workshop, and students have emailed a link to sign up to attend.
